blah blah blah

why is it that getting together with family and (certain) friends is not what it used to be? is this how it's going to be for the next 40 years...interminable conversations about commute times, home remodelling, "how's work?" etc. spare me. remember when we used to actually talk?? i guess our lives are much less interesting than they were when we were more carefree. or they still are interesting but we don't want to share, in case we fall a rung or two in the omnipresent competition; god forbid someone reveal their current dissatisfaction with life. i thought we socialized to get away from the day to day. not to rehash to someone else who doesn't give a damn but is trapped on the couch and can't walk away without looking rude.
